‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 spoilers: Chandler Riggs, Carl, and humanity

Carl -They say that going through tough times is one of the truest ways to really start to find out who you really are, and for many characters on “The Walking Dead,” they have had a number of opportunities already to go through some of these tests. For some others, though, the hardest tests are still yet to come. It’s easy to figure out why: You’re locked in a train car and forced to be around the same people, and also worried that you are going to be killed or even eaten.

So we don’t feel like it is any surprise at all that Carl is one of the characters on the verge of a pretty hasty breakdown. He’s not used to this level of crowding, and with there being a few sociopathic tendencies in him (though not on the same level as with Lizzie), this may not mean that happy times are ahead for Rick’s pudding-loving son.

This sentiment is echoed by executive producer / comic author Robert Kirkman, who offered up the following quote to TV Guide about how Chandler Riggs’ character may struggle in his new surroundings:

“Carl [is] in a pretty bad position locked in this train car at the mercy of other people, and that could lead to him being tested in other big ways … There’s a lot of changes left for that kid to go through.”

Let’s just hope that these changes for Rick don’t leave him with more stress on his plate. After all, hasn’t this guy been through enough as a dad already? Carl started to get better when he was traveling with him and Michonne, but this is hardly the same situation now. He’s literally at the mercy of others, and they are way more dangerous than a slow-moving pack of walkers.

Is Carl your pick for “first character to go nuts in the train car”?
