‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10 spoilers: Caterina Scorsone comes up from ‘Private Practice’

The future -Do you miss “Private Practice” being on the air? Then the news about Caterina Scorsone’s new gig is probably going to make you very happy.

According to a new report from TV Guide, Scorsone is set to reprise her role as Amelia Shepherd (a.k.a. Derek’s sister) starting in May on “Grey’s Anatomy.” She will appear in at least two or three episodes, but the details surrounding her appearance on the ABC series for the time being are unknown.

Bringing Scorsone up from “Private Practice” is a nice little way for showrunner Shonda Rhimes to prove to everyone that the end of one of her shows does not mean the end of the characters’ relevance. There is clearly something more to tell with Amelia, and this should be both essential to this story ad also a nice little Easter egg for everyone who loved her on the spin-off for the six years it was on the air. During that time, she seemed to have something resembling a happy ending, but who knows if that really stuck? This is why the update on this show is going to be so very valuable.

As for what is going on with Amelia’s brother, Derek is dealing with quite a bit being on his plate right now. As you can see in the sneak peek video here from Thursday’s episode, he is trying to balance being a good friend, co-worker, and husband with a difficult research assignment that is tied to the government and even the President of the United States. For those wondering, Rhimes is not looking to make it a trifecta with these two aforementioned shows and “Scandal.” Fitz and Olivia are apparently in a different universe.
