‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5: Paul Wesley already hard at work directing
It was not that long ago that the news first came out regarding Paul Wesley taking on the role as director on “The Vampire Diaries” season 5, but already, the man is hard at work trying to make sure that the show is a success.
Executive producer Julie Plec confirmed the big news about Paul being in the director’s chair on Friday, and he is going to have his work cut out for him the rest of the way trying to make sure that this episode is everything that he wants and then some. Directing an episode is no easy task, given that there is so much responsibility that lies at your feet. You have to ensure that everything is set up properly, that all of the actors are prepared, and that things go swimmingly in post-production to match up your vision…. and in Wesley’s case he is also acting!
As for when you can see Paul’s episode on the air for the first time, think a little bit later in the spring. It won’t be one of the last episodes of the season (since those tend to shoot in April), but it should be one that helps to set up some of those events perfectly. Production is almost always a few weeks ahead of what you are seeing on TV.
As for whether or not Wesley’s gig inspires some other actors on “The Vampire Diaries” to try out being in the director’s chair, that remains to be seen, but we are more interested in seeing what unfolds if his episode is well-reviewed.
