‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Jonah Hill, Taran Killam, and plenty of cursing
After taking a gamble this past weekend with a show hosted by Drake, this weekend’s edition of “Saturday Night Live” is going to venture into much more familiar territory. Jonah Hill is returning to NBC this weekend for his third appearance as a host, and it’s coming at a perfect time. Jonah was just nominated for an Academy Awards for “The Wolf of Wall Street,” and this movie is still getting a lot of play in theaters all over the country.
Will Jonah be as solid a host this time around as he was on the first two occasions? All signs point to “yes” based on the first promo released by NBC. Jonah is certainly very funny in this clip, and he and Taran Killam have a few nice exchanges. There are some great moments in here all about cursing, along with Jonah deciding to give an autograph to the regular cast member’s tongue.
As for what sort of pop-culture moments could be mocked here, Richard Sherman feels like automatically a lock based on the NFC Championship Game. Almost, it may be a good time to bust out Bobby Moynihan’s take on Rob Ford again, based on some of the ridiculous antics that we saw from the Toronto Mayor recently. The downside to this weekend is that there are fewer opportunities to rip skits from the headlines. However, at the same time a good host can help to make up for sketches that are not always the most creative in the world.
