In reply to <a href="https://cartermatt.com/263801/chicago-pd-season-5-future-burgess-ruzek-couples-forecast/#comment-160341">Ezio Auditore</a>.

Finally, someone who feels the same way I do. I never thought that would happen. While I loved both relationships, Burzek was more equal. Linstead was never an equal relationship IMO. Jay did all the work and chased after Erin, while she either ran away or lived in denial. And, she always put Bunny first.

"As for Jay and Lindsay those two never knew how to seperate personal from professional and it was always onesided Lindsay was the arrogant one who always treated Jay like a lapdog."

Exactly, this was their problem. Jay's storylines always revolved around Erin and whether they were dating or not. He was basically used to prop her character and the Linstead relationship. It's like his sole purpose was just to be her partner and boyfriend/ex-boyfriend. I can't remember the last time he had a storyline that didn't involve her or their relationship.

I liked Erin for the most part, but her control issues got old after a while - along with her dysfunctional childhood and Bunny. She always had to be the one in charge with their partnership, simply because she was Voight's pseudo-daughter. Jay even mentioned in 1.01 that he'd been on the job longer, to which Erin retorted that she'd been in the unit longer. That's how she explained not letting him drive. That was fine in the beginning, when they were new partners. But, you're supposed to evolve. She didn't actually willingly let him drive until season 4.

Maybe now, some other characters will finally get their own storylines. Because, Erin got all of them before.

I'm down with it Burgess and Ruzek was always an equal relationship it went both ways until Ruzek did the proposal thing and Burgess was smart enough to call it off when it was clear Ruzek wasn't taking it seriously recently Ruzek seems to be more mature about the break up and he and Burgess have been able to work professionally. As for Jay and Lindsay those two never knew how to seperate personal from professional and it was always onesided Lindsay was the arrogant one who always treated Jay like a lapdog.
