In reply to Elena. I look at it from a slightly different angle. I think the thing about Major Crimes is that it's comforting in its own way. You watch every week and you know you're going to get a quality case. Some TV snobs don't think procedurals are artsy enough because they don't win awards; personally, these are the sort of shows I'll watch many times over.

In reply to quinquin. The programming guru wanted edgier stuff. It failed. Why? Because Americans don't like it when the bad guy wins. America is in NO MOOD for more criminals to be celebrated. While I did not vote for Trump, he won on a law and order piece of his platform. Americans appreciate justice.

Much as we hate to admit it, shows become more expensive to their broadcasters as they age. The network/broadcaster begins picking up more of the production costs from the production studio after season four or five (I can’t remember which is more prevalent, but it’s about that time). There’s only so much a network can control. Warner Bros.Television Studios is historically a very expensive studio to license a show from. It used to be the most expensive studio, I’m not sure where they stand now. Even if TNT is part of Time-Warner, that doesn’t mean they get a great deal on their television product. We hope for the best with this show. Negotiations may go down the the very last wire, as they often do at WB Studios.

Thanks Matt. I echo that. – I can’t help but think that TNT is knowingly and willingly suffocating one of their most successful shows. It’s kind of ironic though that they appear to be only partially successful. In spite of schedule changes, and being aired against tougher competition than most of the inhouse rivals they are still doing pretty well. Yes, the ratings suffered (as could be expected) but they are still better than most of the other TNT shows. I am looking forward to season 6. May the fall come soon!
