I agree with Mimi, this is not a love story. Jonathan Scarfe ‘s performance is an Emmy worthy guest appearance, and brought an uptick to Anson’s already superior performance . The Southern Comardere and history of Cullen & Sydney is too important to let Snow die at the hands of a depraved guilt ridden killer. Ruth’s character has no where to go, whether he Snow lives or dies. If either man had wanted the other one dead, it would have happened. Cullen only wishes Sydney dead in the heat of anger. Snow foled Bohannon into hell time and again. Cullen is his hero, his brother in arms, a man he would die for. If not for Naomi’s deception at not infiorming Cullen that Sydney had un-cocked and was lowering his gun , is a pattern of her foolish and self-centered conduct. Just like Bohannon, Snow deserves a second chance if he feels remorse. Cullen has been given more one chance in his struggle between good and evil , killing and not killing. The road ahead is filled with outlaws that will make Snow look tame. Scarfe’s performance from the beginning is legendary stuff.

One of the most interesting parts of “Hell On Wheels” is the wide array of characters who actually built the Rail Road. After the bloody war you have all these diverse groups gathering together with one central focus… build the R/R on the surface… underneath they are trying to find a place for themselves in this new country. The businessmen, Freedmen, Irish, union and confederate soldiers all working together for the first time. Each group with their own reputations and resentments. What a cauldron of emotions and hell fire. I would like to see the program continue along the same lines by making sure all groups are represented and the historical aspect is not lost. No sugar coating… it isn’t a love story… More Bohannon, Anson Mount has done an amazing job and holds a magnetism for viewers of all ages. There’s just something about him that is captivating and believable.
