‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 13 preview: ‘Bass Player Wanted,’ and The Mother!

Have you been waiting for some more drama to hit “How I Met Your Mother“? Monday night’s midseason finale is entitled “Bass Player Wanted,” and based on some of the scoop that is out there right now, there is a good bit to look forward to here.

First of all, let’s celebrate the return of The Mother! It’s been a couple of episodes since she’s played a consistent role, and it’s been even longer since you’ve seen her in the present. While we can’t completely guarantee that just yet, the promo below does at least show her with a drink in her hand … so at least there’s that.

Also, there are a couple of other stories to look forward to here.

1. The return of Marshall – After spending the entire first half of the season regrettably away from the gang, he will finally be back for what could be one happy reunion … or at least it would be a happy reunion had Marshall not gone ahead and decided that he was going to be a judge. Based on Lily practicing punching her Marshall pillow, this is not going to be a happy moment at first. There needs to be a way to tie this story together, especially where it does not make Lily feel like a doormat at the same time.

2. Andrew Rannells! – Is the former “New Normal” star playing The Devil? Well, he’s at least going to be one of the worst wedding guests ever in the eyes of everyone else at the Farhampton Inn. Regardless of who he plays, we’re never going to protest seeing Andrew as a guest-star on this or any other show. (In case you missed it, he’s also going to be back on “Girls” for many other episodes in the future.)
