Adam Lambert closes out 2011 MTV EMAs with Queen medley

Adam closed the show.

We reported earlier Sunday that Adam Lambert was going to be closing things out at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards by performing in a special tribute to Freddie Mercury with Queen, and he certainly did not disappoint.

The performance took place at the tail end of the ceremony (after Queen had been recognized for their work as an icon), and it included a medley of Queen’s greatest hits including “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You.” Adam wore all black, and also worked the crowd while transitioning from one song to the next.

In terms of timing, getting this gig was perfect for Adam. He’s in the process of getting ready to release his sophomore album next year, and this gets him some attention from fans around the world. It’s easily his most high-profile gig closing a show since the 2009 AMAs, and it may also lead to some more in the music.

What did you think of this performance? If there are videos made available by MTV, we will post them later in the day. Some of the big winners during the ceremony included the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and Justin Bieber.
