‘Two and a Half Men’ season 11, episode 9 preview: A dating surprise for Jon Cryer’s Alan
For the first time potentially all season long on “Two and a Half Men,” Alan Harper may have a chance for a real relationship with someone who does not also have a real boyfriend that they spend most of their time with. The twist here? Let’s just say that this is a woman who used to be a man.
This is the sort of story that feels like it should have happened on the show many years ago, and it would have been very easy to make the whole ordeal into a sketch from “The Jerry Springer Show.” It’s for that reason that we are pretty happy that the producers instead are going in a different direction, and not making this woman into some sort of target of ridicule; instead, she seems to be perfectly likable, and Alan even continues to date her after learning the truth.
Does the show still have a little bit of fun with it? Sure, but in the promo below, it looks like it is mostly silly stuff that is all in good fun, such as her trying to hold the door open for him. In the end, Alan is not the most masculine guy out there, so they try to make it out that this is the best possible relationship in that the two balance each other out. However, based on the casting information that is out there, we don’t quite imagine that this is going to be a woman who will be around the rest of the season. Lyndsey is probably still the endgame for Jon Cryer’s character, even thought she is only occasionally nice to him and mean the vast majority of the time. (Then again, Alan is hardly the model of good behavior with her. Maybe they deserve each other?)

I’ve become disappointed with the show. The introduction of Charlie’s daughter could have been a cute addition, but she serves only to increase the sleaze factor. Alan has become very unlikable.
