ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6 debate: What stories do you want in 2014?

The latest -As of Monday night, “Castle” is done airing new episodes for 2014 and it leaves us asking the important question as to what comes next? There are still at least a dozen more episodes that we will see this season, and there are quite a few story threads that need to be resolved. Some of these have been teased in the press, and some of them have been teased on the show.

Given that this is Thanksgiving and a time of celebration, here are six stories that we will celebrate if they are shown on ABC at some point early next year.

1. The Pi problem resolved – Either keep the guy around and make him less annoying, which would probably happen thanks to Castle giving him a chance. Or, get rid of him.

2. The return of 3XK – Even if you wait until May for it to happen, you can’t just leave us with the story of Dr. Kelly Niemanand – give us something else before next year.

3. Castle’s father – Luckily, we know already that James Brolin is going to be returning in this role at some point within the first few months of 2014. But will he actually reveal himself to anyone other than Rick?

4. Lanie and Esposito – During “Disciple,” we saw a little bit of story about where their relationship has been as of late, but it is fair to say that we still want much more.

5. Wedding chatter – While we don’t necessarily need to see the Castle – Beckett wedding this year, but it would be nice if there was some movement forward in the story as a whole. For example, why not at least give us some more details on the planning process, or maybe the bachelor / bachelorette parties? The former could be a chance to bring back some of Rick’s writing pals.

6. Ryan becoming a dad – This will inevitably happen at some point, given that it was brought up again in “The Good, the Bad, and the Baby.” The only mystery is just how long the writers want to drag it out.
