Mrs Carter: Tragic baby news for the little couple.
Dr. Jennifer Arnold and her husband Bill Klein have had their lives well documented over the past few seasons of their hit TLC show ‘The Little Couple’ and one of the focuses of the show has been around their dreams of becoming parents.
On Tuesday’s episode Bill and Jennifer learned that the surrogate mother that was carrying their unborn child miscarried, leaving the couple heartbroken. When the couple initially learned that their embryo was successfully transferred to the surrogate, they were ecstatic. Klein told People Magazine;
“After we got pregnant, the craziness ensued with us wondering what to do with the baby’s room, making sure our surrogate was getting her daily dose of baby vitamins.”
Since then the couple have learned that the surrogate miscarried the baby and Klein says that Jennifer took it harder than expected. He said;
“I didn’t want her to be the last person to find out. Ugly or happy, it needs to be told. It was a very tough day, and Jen took it harder than she originally expected.”
Arnold said that even though she works with families that have experienced losing a baby, nothing can prepare a person for when that loss happens to them. She said;
“I cried my eyes out. I deal with families who lose their babies and I will cry with them, but I thought I would be stronger. Nothing can completely prepare for all that when it is about you. Bill was a rock, and he held me through everything. By the next morning, I realized that I needed to try again. We were so close and so pregnant with the ultrasound looking good, and so it was horrible for it to end. But I couldn’t have said I was done. A lot of family asked, ‘Do you want to go through this again?’ And my answer is, yes. I would be miserable if I didn’t try again.”
It is such a heartbreaking situation to be in and our hearts go out to Bill and Jennifer in this difficult time.
