Charice cancels shows after father’s passing

Tough times.

There is some sad news breaking Tuesday morning for fans of singer Charice. In a new post on Twitter, the singer announced that she is going to be missing the remainder of her David Foster and Friends shows due to the sudden passing of her father:

“I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore. I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year.”

According to reports, Charice’s 40-year old father Ricky Pempengco — a construction worker who the former “Glee” guest star had been estranged from for much of her childhood — was stabbed by a man (perceived to be under the influence of alcohol) after brushing against him outside of a grocery store in the San Pedro Township in The Philippines.

There is currently a search underway for the man responsible for the stabbing, and a reward is being offered by police for details relating to the incident.
