Mrs. Carter: Cher Lloyd has received another “yes” … though this time at the altar rather than at an “X Factor” audition.
The British pop phenomenon, best known for reaching fourth place on the ITV singing show in 2010 behind One Direction along with a number of hit singles on the pop charts, confirmed today that she and her longtime boyfriend Craig Monk have tied the knot in a private ceremony. Lloyd confirmed the news in a post on Instagram (see below), which features her and Monk dressed up in the big occasion. Fans of Lloyd have clearly taken to Twitter to spread the news, as “Cher Monk” is now a trending topic all over the social-networking site.
Monk and Lloyd first began dating in 2011, and it was last year when the two first became engaged. Cher herself has had a rather interesting experience since her time on “The X Factor” ended. While she originally had some hits in Britain including “Swagger Jagger” and “With Ur Love,” she soon focused more of her attention on America, including her new single “I Wish” and a re-tooled version of “Want U Back.” She said recently that she and Simon Cowell no longer communicate on a regular basis.
One of the reasons why Cher has developed such a large following is due to her opinionated nature, along with her uptempo songs with catchy beats. The biggest surprise to us is that she was able to keep a wedding ceremony under wraps, since she was engaged and everyone knew it was going to happen eventually. When you are a pop star with the paparazzi after you, this is no easy feat.
