On Saturday, a man of the small town of Cumnock, Scotland by the name of Stuart Walker was found tied to a lamppost, beaten, and charred in various places — and he may have also been buried alive. While police are still trying to determine what exactly happened to the man, police are suggesting that his sexuality may have been a reason for this attack upon his life.
This tragedy is just another example of something that has been at the center of headlines for the past year — GLBT men and women either getting physically or emotionally attacked because of who they are. Of course, the problem stretches back far further than that for people of just about any minority, whether it be for sexual preference, race, or religion.
Deepest thoughts go out to Walker’s family, and we can only hope that the people responsible for this are captured and brought to justice soon enough.
