Record labels seem intent on one thing at the moment — cleaning house when it comes to former “American Idol” contestants.
Just a matter of weeks after we first found out that Lee DeWyze is no longer with RCA after just one album, the same can now be said for Crystal Bowersox and Jive. The season 9 runner-up told TVLine recently that she is now working independently on a second album, but that she is more than grateful to the company for the opportunities given to her. (She also praised them for allowing her make by and large the music she wanted to make.)
While the news is not exactly shocking, it is still a surprise since Crystal’s album “Farmer’s Daughter” actually sold over 200,000 copies despite not getting much in the way of promotion or play on mainstream radio. She proved that there was an audience out there for her music, and the album itself was (at the time it was released) the best by an “Idol” alum since Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment.”
Are you still hopeful for Crystal’s future?
