Selena Gomez is trying to appear to a broader sort of audience, and she may just do that with her newest foray into feature filmmaking.
According to Deadline, the Disney Channel star-turned pop singer has signed on for a role in “Hot Mess,” a rather hilariously-titled movie to be directed by Dave Myers (who is best known as a music-video director for his work with Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and Pink). The movie is supposedly going to be centered around four young women who are trying desperately to avoid becoming the “hot mess” they believed they are destined to be later in life. The premise could make for a funny film, but it will ultimately depend on Myers’ direction, the rest of the casting, and a quality script.
Gomez most recently starred in the box-office disappointment that was “Monte Carlo,” and she has also been linked to the teen dramedy “Thirteen Reasons Why.”
Would you like to see Selena do some more film work moving forward?
