Is Max on “2 Broke Girls” about to meet someone who is even meaner than she is? That is at least the impression that we are getting now from the newest bit of casting information released by CBS.
Gilles Marini, who you probably know best either for his time on “Dancing with the Stars” or his arc as Angelo on “Switched at Birth,” is going to recur this season as Nicholas, an instructor at the Manhattan School of Pastry where Max goes to try to improve her skills. As she ends up learning, this is one tough guy to impress. Marini is a tall enough man to be physically imposing, and to go along with that, he’s also French. You know that this show is going to have quite a bit of fun making a difficult-to-impress character who also doubles as a chef.
There’s a little bit of a fun connection here between Marini and showrunner Michael Patrick King; King was one of the primary reasons for the success of “Sex and the City,” and Gilles first became known to American audiences for showering outside during the “Sex and the City” movie under the watchful eye of Samantha Jones.
Meanwhile, we also know the identity of one of the fellow students. According to Deadline, this will be none other than “24” star Mary Lynn Rajskub, who will play the part of Bebe. There’s no word on if she will be a friend or foe to Max, but she will appear in one episode and possibly more than that depending on what the reaction is to her from fans.
“2 Broke Girls” is in need of some sort of lifeline when it comes to the ratings. It was recently moved to 8:30 p.m. Eastern after “How I Met Your Mother” after losing steam in the 9:00 spot, and “Mike & Molly” is going to park itself there beginning early next month. For now, repeats of the monster known as “The Big Bang Theory” is currently occupying the space.
