James Durbin is apparently not looking to dominate just one genre chart for his first post-“American Idol” release — he is taking aim at multiple genres.
According to USA Today, Durbin’s label Wind Up Records is preparing two singles from the album right away — one (in “Love Me Bad”) that is going to be sent to the Top 40 radio format, while another (“Stand Up”) tries its luck on the rock charts.
James is certainly not the only artist to try this strategy, and as with any other idea in the music world it has had mixed results over the years. If everything goes according to plan, this could help James pick up some fans across multiple genres of music, and maybe even allow both songs to become crossover hits in some shape or form.
Durbin’s album “Memories of a Beautiful Disaster” hits stores on November 21. What do you think about this idea, and are you excited to hear the singles?
