Taylor Swift already has quite a few accomplishments under her belt, despite only being 21 years old. Her new album “Speak Now” received certified platinum status in one week, and she has also been raking in plenty of cash all over the world with her new tour.
Now, the singer / songwriter has a brand-new title that she can add to her resume — Billboard’s Woman of the Year. She will receive the award during the 2011 Billboard Women in Music Event on December 2 in New York City.
In a statement, Bill Werde of Billboard had this to say about the honor:
“Taylor has shown the power of good songwriting with music that has transcended genres, and we’re thrilled to recognize all of her successes over the past year by honoring her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award. At the young age of 21, Taylor has already made a major impact on music and has been an incredible role model for aspiring singers/songwriters and young women everywhere. I look forward to watching her career continue to flourish in the years to come.”
Overall, Taylor has sold more than 20 million albums around the world and 40 million digital downloads — the vast majority of these before could even pop open a bottle of champagne in celebration.
Are you happy for Taylor?
