Mrs. Carter: From superhero to superdad?
Stephen Amell has done his fare share of fighting crime (and filming shirtless scenes) on the first two seasons of “Arrow,” but in real life the actor is taking on a brand-new role of first-time father. In a post on Facebook, the actor confirmed that he and his wife, former “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Cassandra Jean, welcomed a baby girl. Just Jared confirms that the name for the child is Mavi Alexandra Jean Amell.
So what does the name Mavi mean? While there are a number of different translations and meanings, the most common one is a translation for the color blue of Turkish origin. This is a name that has been used for both boys and girls, but is not entirely common for either one. While it is definitely along the lines of the obscure, this is not anywhere near the levels of ridicule that we have already seen from celebrity names such as Pilot Inspector, North West, Bear Blu, or Apple. This is definitely normal by comparison and we are looking forward to hearing why this name was chosen over all others.
The tough part for Amell here is that even though he welcomed his child earlier this week, there is really no rest when you are a guy on a popular TV show. “Arrow” season 2 filming is still going strong, even though there are going to be some more stories geared towards the supporting characters this fall (which should hopefully give him at least a little bit of time here and there to enjoy fatherhood and start to create that all important father/daughter bond). One other lovely bit of fun here is that in the first photo that Amell shared of his child (which you can see in the Facebook link above), the TV is on and is airing “The Tomorrow People,” (the brand new CW series airing after “Arrow” that stars Stephen’s cousin Robbie Amell). The two shows are doing pretty well on Wednesdays so far and are leading a CW network that has actually shored up three nights now in Tuesday-Thursday that are faring well in the ratings.
Happy for Stephen and Cassandra? We definitely are! Be sure to share your thoughts on their daughter’s name below, and click here if you are interested in watching a video peek at what else is coming up on “Arrow” season.
