By the time the one-year anniversary of Amy Winehouse’s passing arrives, many people are going to be able to read about her life and times in an all-new biography written by someone who knew her rather well — her father.
On Monday, HarperCollins announced that its celebrity label It Books will publish Mitch Winehouse’s Amy: My Daughter in the summer 2012. The book is set to be a personal account of everything from the “Rehab” singer’s early years to her music career as well as some of her struggles with addiction leading up to her sudden passing.
In a statement, Mitch makes it sound as though writing this book is also a personal form of therapy for him:
“I feel that I need to write this book to tell the true story of Amy and to help with my personal recovery.”
All proceeds from the book are set to be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, and organization created by Mitch after her passing to help contribute to projects that his daughter cared very much about — including caring for children and animals.
