We could sit here and focus for a good hour and a half on that interview between Jimmy Kimmel and Kanye West that took place on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last night, but if we’re being completely honest, it was incredibly annoying to watch. It basically felt like Kimmel was trying to have fun with the rapper at first when he was on the air, but when that didn’t work, he just began sucking up to him. This is the sort of time you need to bring in David Letterman in as a pitch-hitter, since nobody trolls their interview guests quite like him.
So instead of talking more about something that will just make us disappointed and angry, let’s focus on something that is a consistent warrior for us when it comes to entertainment: Watching celebrities coming on the show and reading terrible things about themselves that fans said on Twitter. This time around, the crew include such A-listers as Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Kid Rock, Ke$ha, Brad Paisley, Fall Out Boy, the Backstreet Boys, Lil Wayne, and a good many other people. The best burn of the entire set, though, may come at the end courtesy of 2 Chainz.
The thing that always continually impresses us about this segment is that you know exactly what the tweets are going to be like, but somehow, the show still finds a way to get you to laugh. That is both extremely rare when it comes to this sort of segment, and also very impressive. Let’s also give a little bit of credit to the haters here who come up with creative things to say; without them, there would be no segment like this. Of course, there’s also a difference between being a good troll online and just being a stalker or a d-bag.
