Could we already have a potential Oscar contender on our hands? We know that the Academy Awards love to hand out trophies to stars for their take on landmark figures in history — and there are hardly names any bigger out there when it comes to female stars than Marilyn Monroe.
“My Week with Marilyn” is going to center largely on the interactions between Monroe (played by this potential contender in Michelle Williams) and fellow actor Lawrence Olivier (played here by Kenneth Branagh) while on the set of “The Prince and the Showgirl” during 1956 in London. The film includes such other stars as Judi Dench and Emma Watson — who is making one of her first notable appearances outside of the “Harry Potter” franchise.
While the movie’s latest trailer (which you can see below) captures the style and the feeling of old Hollywood perfectly, what really shines through here is yet another reminder of how Williams (despite whatever acclaim she has received in the past) still seems to be underrated as an actress. She is remembered during awards season, but more often than not forgotten during other parts of the year.
