One of the amazing things about the upcoming ‘Avengers’ film is that you get to see all of your favorite Marvel superheroes working together as a team and see how they interact with one another.
Fans have known for a while that the cast is going to be fierce with some of Hollywood’s biggest names attached to the project. Scarlett Johansson is playing the role of ‘The Black Widow’ and she has been working hard to make sure that her character is not solely in the film to be a love interest for the male characters, so we can expect to see her to be kicking a lot of butt. She said; “The other day we were doing this big reveal shot of all the Avengers. Thor has got his hammer, Cap’s got his shield, Hawkeye has his bow and arrow, and Hulk is huge. Then it pans over to me and I’ve got guns. Iron Man’s like, hovering above all of us, ready to go. I was like, ‘Joss… um… do I look okay holding these guns?’”
Robert Downey Jr. will be reprising his role as Iron Man while Chris Evans will be coming back to his character of Captain America. Evans recently spoke about being Captain America and how lonely the character is. He said; “He was a soldier, obviously, everybody he went to battle with, all of his brothers in arms, they’re all [gone]. He’s just lonely. I think in the beginning it’s a fish out of water scene, and it’s tough. It’s a tough pill for him to swallow. Then comes trying to find a balance with the modern world.”
The Incredible Hulk will be played by Mark Ruffalo and he has said that while the Hulk wants to join the Avengers, but his character worries that because of his past the group will be afraid to work with him. He said; “He’s the most mild-mannered guy, but a total loose cannon. No one wants to set him off except for Iron Man, except for Downey, who just wants to see him pop.”
Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor and Jeremy Renner will be taking on the only other regular human role (like Black Widow) as Hawkeye.
‘The Avengers’ is directed by the very cool Joss Whedon and will be coming to theaters in May 2012.
