‘America’s Next Top Model: Guys & Girls’ review: Who returned to the contest?

“America’s Next Top Model: Guys & Girls” has at times been the most entertaining season of the show in years, but it also has its moments of predictability and frustration. This is where we were on Friday night’s episode, since it was almost obvious from the very start of the episode who was going to be leaving at the end.

Let’s put it this way: Phil was given one of the worst makeovers ever on the show. He was made into a comedy goofball from the beginning, and the makeover turned him into Jesus. That’s not exactly how you want to be presented if you are trying to be a serious model, and the viewing public mostly mocked him over the course of the competition and his scores in that department were almost always low. Imagine what he could have looked like sans beard, or with a completely different look that gave him a little more freedom to show off his talent on stage.

But, the twist here is that Phil could still be coming back. Either he, Mike, or Jeremy are going to re-enter the competition after it was announced that Alexandra would be doing the same exact thing. Personally, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Mike be the guy. These voters online don’t see what he does on the runway, and they could appreciate his personal growth and the photos more than a guy in Jeremy who never really came across as a model at all.

As for the strong performers from this week’s episode, major kudos first and foremost to Chris for finally unseating Jourdan as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Meanwhile, Nina came in second place, and that’s a nice little one-two finish for the offbeat friends of the competition. While Chris can be volatile, we’d much rather watch him and Nina than Marvin aggressively trying to hit on Renee … mostly because the guy seems desperate for a romance on a show that has nothing to do with love.
