Regarding the flash challenge and Joshua's tattoo, I am wondering if GARG OYLE is any relation to (Popeye's) Olive Oyle??... Now Oliver DID correctly observe that the two "g"s were not consistent. But I wouldn't be so foolish as to expect him to get academic on their asses, and make the point that grammatically Gar Goyle is the correct separation of syllables. And if you watch closely I believe the canvas even suggests this in the initial consultation where Josh tries to dissuade him...he says and indicates gar (on the one lid) and goyle on the other. Either Joshua made an argument for balanced letters on each side or he was just completely oblivious to the phonetics of this word. Remember in season 2 when one of the tattoos had a blatant spelling error? Just as bad here. You don't say GARG OYLE.

Observe that Jime's WELL DESERVED win here managed to balance two words of differing lengths and looked the most polished of any of them.

I agree that the treatment/handling of Kyle's ciients was a showcase of what an inkmaster should NOT be. Though I'm convinced this show is edited in a very manipulative way, it does appear that the assignments take place right in front of the canvases in real time. There is nothing remotely close to PROFESSIONALISM in Kyle' saying, OH, God when he gets his assignment. Think this has happened lots of times and not just with Kyle. How does that show any respect or class?

Accuracy is a little like truth. Too much of it can get you into trouble. Accuracy does not mean that you have to show every last detail---but rather that the details you do show are correct to the original. Diplomacy and a sense of tact might have served Kyle well here.

I'm not sure I agree with Jason's axing---I don't like Joshua, i think he should have already been eliminated and he really sucked on the flash challenge and did lose a lot by shortening the lady's hair. He shoulda gone home for that washed out pin up a few shows back. But the producers want the drama rather than the skill Craig had.

Speaking of consistency, the judges certainly aren't. This challenge was ACCURACY and they praised Baby (what a surprise) for embellishing elements not in the photo---which may well have added something aesthetically but it is decidedly something other than ACCURACY...HELLO! like as in hitting the bull's eye? Getting things dead center on? Embellishing is not an exercise in accuracy any more than black and white skills are a measure of proportion.

So yes I am arguing that you don't have to show every last detail to be accurate, but when you show MORE than what is there you have surpassed accuracy.

I agree with you 100 percent ,jennifer. That portrait looked nothing like that lady. He gave her wrinkles. That lady is beautiful the portrait did no justice, he should have went home. I hope that lady knows she looks beautiful

I think that all the Canvases owe that nice old lady and her daughter an Apology for making her cry. The mother is sweet and beautiful , and earned every detail on her sweet, and kind face. They need to show a little respect to that mother.
