Ellen Page joins Alexander Skarsgard on ‘The East’

She’s joining the cast of ‘The East’

Producers of the new Zal Batmanglij film ‘The East’ have just landed their first big star.

Ellen Page has been reportedly signed to work on ‘The East’ alongside Brit Marling and ‘True Blood’ cutie Alexander Skarsgard.

The story focuses on an undercover agent, played by Marling, who is given the job to protect corporations from extremists.  She is sent to investigate an anarchist organization known as ‘The East’ and quickly finds herself falling for the leader of the group (Skarsgard).  Ellen is set to take on the role of Izzy, a member of ‘The East’ who was once in a romantic relationship with Skarsgard’s character and is now extremely upset and jealous over the secret agent that has infiltrated the group.

Originally the role of Izzy was going to be played by Felicity Jones, but because of press commitments for her film ‘Like Crazy’ she was forced to drop out of the film.

Page wrapped up on the set of Woody Allen’s new film ‘Bop Decameron’ over the summer and Skarsgard just began shooting his new film ‘Disconnect’ in New York City this week.

At this point Skarsgard is still listed as ‘rumored’ to be part of the cast of ‘The East’ on IMDB.com.
