One of the most-anticipated movies of the holiday season is now going to be in theaters a little bit earlier than expected.
According to a new report, Tom Cruise’s “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” is going to move back closer to its original release date (which you can see to the left) — at least if you see it in Imax. The movie is now coming out in this format (along with some other preview venues) on December 16 — five days before it will be out everywhere.
In explaining this decision, Rob Moore of Paramount had this to say:
“Our thought was to get the movie going heading into the Christmas. We’ve screened the entire movie, and the response has been fantastic. People also saw how great the Imax footage was.”
One of the reasons for this change is simple — it’s a way for the movie to get more exposure in a field that is incredibly crowded courtesy of everything from “The Muppets” to “The Adventures of Tintin.”
