‘American Idol’ alum Jennifer Hudson has been one of Weight Watchers biggest success stories and now that she’s lost 80 pounds with the program she’s not only become the spokeswoman for the company but she wants to help other’s in her home town lose weight as well.
The Oscar winner opened the ‘Weight Watchers Jennifer Hudson Center’ in Chicago on Tuesday and Weight Watchers says that they will be donating a portion of the locations earnings to the ‘Julian D. King Gift Foundation’. The charity helps raise funds for children in need and it is in honor of her nephew who passed away in 2008.
Jennifer is the first spokesperson for Weight Watchers that has their name on a branch. Dave Burwick, the Weight Watchers North American president spoke about Jennifer’s dedication to the brand and how excited they are to have the center opening in Hyde Park. He said;
“This new Center honors Jennifer’s commitment, and we hope, demonstrates how dedicated we are to her as our partner. We hope that this will be the first of many centers in neighborhoods where obesity is as critical as it is in Hyde Park and Weight Watchers can continue to make an impact.”
