Blizzard Entertainment delays ‘Diablo III’ release until next year

Release date is delayed

Whenever Blizzard Entertainment tells you that a game is ‘coming soon’ it’s important to remember that usually means it’s not coming for a while, but that when it does eventually make it out to stores that you’ll be locked up in some dark room with it for weeks.

Blizzard Entertainment are the masterminds behind games like the ‘Diablo’ series, ‘Starcraft’ and ‘World of Warcraft’ and when fans heard that the beta testing for ‘Diablo III’ was underway, people thought that it was likely going to be released some time soon. Unfortunately that’s not what this means – Shocker!

‘Diablo III’ has been delayed until early 2012 and lucky for Blizzard Entertainment their gamers will wait just about any length of time for their products, since they are just so much fun to play.  Blizzard Entertainment made the announcement about ‘Diablo III’ on its site, saying;

“We commonly use the term “soon” when referring to Blizzard releases, because we know that no matter how hard we’re working to reach a target, we’re not going to compromise and launch a game before it’s ready. For Diablo III, we were aiming to launch by the end of 2011. As we’re announcing globally today, our new target for the game is early 2012.”

Mike Morhaime, CEO and co founder of Blizzard Entertainment also released a statement about the delay on ‘Diablo III’.  He said;

“With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible. However, we didn’t put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready. The beta test is going very well, and we look forward to making the most of the extra time we’re taking to deliver an experience that lives up to our vision for the game and the expectations of our players. Next year is going to be an incredibly busy one for Blizzard, and we hope an incredibly fun one for Blizzard gamers.”
