‘The Crazy Ones’ spoilers: Josh Groban joins Robin Williams series, but not as self
When we first found out that Kelly Clarkson was going to be making a guest-starring appearance in the new CBS comedy pilot “The Crazy Ones,” we sat back and imagined all of the possibilities for this show to continually deliver great guest stars. It’s a series all about advertising, and thus, there are great opportunities for celebrities to appear in various roles.
However, this role is going to be less of a celebrity endorser, and more of a traditional guest star on a scripted series. According to Entertainment Weekly, singer Josh Groban is going to appear in the sixth episode of the new show in the role of Richie, a guy who Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) knows from her past who returns to repay a favor. However, things start to go awry when she thinks that he is looking for something a little bit different from her, and this is when Robin Williams’ Simon starts to get involved. Somehow, the events unfold in such a way in which Groban’s character actually ends up landing a big client, and he manages to complete the heroic transformation from zero to hero. And there was much rejoicing.
Groban has previously guest-starred in a number of different shows over the past few years, including as himself on “Glee” and also as Andy Bernard’s brother on “The Office.” He’s an extremely funny guy in addition to being a stellar vocalist, which is why he feels like such a perfect fit for the show in the first place.
