‘The X Factor’ premiere: vocal groups. Chris Rene shake things up

What did you think?

Did you love “The X Factor” premiere Wednesday night? If so, you have to love singing competitions. There was a lot to like from this show, but there was also a healthy dose of “more of the same” based on what we have seen from “American Idol” and elsewhere.

Thankfully, there was one group (yes, a group) that came along and broke free of the mold a little bit — a three-person boy band named The Anser. Despite having some questionable spelling, the group had some fantastic harmonies, were entertaining, and brought a very interesting spin to Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” by adding in a few lines from Britney Spears’ “‘Til the World Ends.”

We can only hope that the show ends up getting more of this sort of group, since now is the time for some more vocal groups to take over — not only that, but it helps to give it a different sort of vibe. The same goes for their decision to put a controversial contestant at the end in Chris Rene — who was immensely talented, but there is still a worry since he is still straight out of treatment.

Who was your favorite from the premiere?
