Lady Gaga has always been very vocal about her disgust with people who bully others and after 14 year old Jamey Rodemeyer took his life on Sunday because of bullies, she is determined to do whatever she can to put an end to it.
What makes Jamey’s passing even more tragic was that in May he posted a YouTube video joining the ‘It Gets Better’ movement trying to spread positive feelings to other gay teens that were struggling with bullying.
This evening, Gaga became very emotional while speaking to her fans on Twitter about Rodemeyer and says that she’s ready to take action. She said; “The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someones life. Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 yrs old, took his life because of bullying. Bullying must become be illegal. It is a hate crime. I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey.”
Within a few minutes, #MakeALawForJamey was a trending topic on Twitter.
At this time there is no word on if Gaga has already set up a meeting with Obama, but we’ll keep you updated on this breaking story.
Below is the video that Jamey Rodemeyer made last May. Let’s never forget how he tried to help change negative perceptions and stop bullying.
