We know that Simon Cowell is crazy about his new show ‘The X Factor’, but do we really need a musical about it?
Cowell is apparently thinking that his hit reality show would make a good musical, and is thinking of turning the show into a humorous play. A source talked about Simon’s musical idea and said that he is excited about the idea and that he is currently figuring out which songs would fit in with the script. The insider said;
“Simon is excited by the idea of taking the X Factor brand on to the stage. He is looking at the types of songs he would like and what sort of script is needed. It would be a perfect night out for X Factor fans and former stars of the show could even be involved in it. Simon doesn’t want a super-serious musical. He thinks if this is going to be something that works, it needs to be funny and have songs people might sing along to, but also laugh along with.”
The U.S. version of ‘The X Factor’ hasn’t even aired here yet, but his plans for the musical would be showing in the U.K. not America. Cowell is talking to music producer and composer Steve brown about his stage version of the talent show and sources say that Steve is on board. The insider explained;
“Steve is very excited at the prospect of working with Simon. He has recently been invited into his inner circle, helping last year’s runner-up Rebecca Ferguson on her debut album. On top of that, he knows how to make songs which will get a laugh, so he could be the perfect man for the job. It seems like a great idea and given how much Simon enjoys making money, I’m surprised he hadn’t thought of it sooner.”
