Idol…this show just doesn’t get it,we were promised change…bottom line they lied…Adam Lambert should be there,what a shame…goodbye idol,had enough of big hair divas who are clueless!!

Evidence of how Adam would be as a mentor is his performance with Angie Miller when they sang Titanium. Angie was never better. That performance had Adam’s stamp all over it. They did not just sing the song-they performed it. The nuance and subtleties, the emphasis on certain notes and words, the body movements and facial expressions-that is what makes an artist.
Look at how Simon has changed since he went to X-factor. On Idol, he felt free to criticize because he had no financial interest in the outcome of the show. On X-factor, he has total financial control of the outcome. He never criticizes the singers because he does not know how the audience will vote. JLo, Urban, Carey, Tyler-none of these “Judges” really judged. They were too worried about how their fans would judge them if they actually gave a criticism of a singer. Adam would be able to enhance the performances of the singers while encouraging them. He will be able to make singers into performers. He will be able to help them learn about how to move their bodies to interpret the song, so they don’t just stand and sing at the microphone.

I think the producers are not taking Adam is because he has not had a gold album yet. Between his two CDs, he has sold only about a million copies. He does not have multi-millions of fans like JLO does. The producers are trying to find mega-artists to bring in viewers who want to see the Judges rather than watch a singing competition. Because there is no decent mentoring and judging, the show is getting boring. The problems are not only the out-dated songs and the theme weeks. How many singers can anyone watch who just stand at the microphone and sing? I think in one season Adam would change the judging on the show just as he showed how a singer on this kind of show should perform.

ADAM ADAM ADAM…….did not watch it last season after the first few shows. Will not watch it if Will I am is on the panel and J Lo. Keith was very good.

In reply to DianaKat. Why would new producers go with all ex judges/mentor from other shows some of which were canceled after only one season. Wil.I.Am (The VoiceUK), Keith (The Voice/Aust& AI US) & JLo (AI). It's like they went after the rejects. They need FRESH faces.

In reply to DianaKat. btw you're right the years Nigel has been exec producer the judges have been given a script to go by when giving feedback to contestants. I've seen JLo reading from one several times. Adam is only celebrity that WILL bring a breath of fresh air to the panel and if new producers can't see that then sad for them.

That lineup will have me watching something else. JLo contributed nothing to the show. Keith was the best of last season but not enough to make me want to watch the show which is no longer about the contestants but about the judges.

I kind of hope Adam is not going to be a judge. Not even he can save this sinking ship. If he is not on it I will not have to ever watch the horrid thing again. Have not watched since the season 8 ‘talent contest?’

They overlook Lambert at their own peril. The “idea” of him as a judge has been floated before and the results from the public were overwhelmingly positive, not from just fans like myself but by viewers who admitted that while they haven’t necessarily bought his music or been to any of his concerts yet,remember and respect him for what he did his season 8 of Idol and on subsequent seasons such as a mentor season 9 and as a performer on return spots on Idol (he nailed “Titanium” with Angie Miller for the BEST of the night last season!) He KNOWS the business and he definitely knows about stage presence, originality and how to sing a song and change it up. Oh, also he knows fashion as a bonus. How much MORE could any show or producer expect? Don’t blow it this time AI. Ball’s in your court.

Matt, I do not believe that FOX-TV’s Kevin Reilly has “departed”.

Kevin Reilly the University of Wisconsin System president resigned. But Kevin Reilly was still at FOX on July 29, 2013.
