‘Raising Hope’ season 4 spoilers: Molly Shannon books extensive guest spot

Raising HopeIf you have been angling to see more of Molly Shannon on your prime time schedule, here’s some great news coming your way. The actress has signed up to do a lengthy arc on a Fox fan favorite in “Raising Hope” and according to Deadline, she will play the new owner of Howdy’s, which is the workplace for both Jimmy and Sabrina on the show.

For “Raising Hope” at this point, any booking that they pull off has to be good news. This is a show that has become the rubber ball for the Fox jugglers who are devising their schedule, as it spent several years moving around Tuesday nights, and now it is heading to Fridays starting on its November 9 return date, where it will be paired off with “Bones” and new comedy “Enlisted.” Is that really going to work? Given what happened to “Happy Endings” on Friday, it’s hard to be hopeful. The only folks really staying at home and watching things on Fridays are families, which is why “Last Man Standing” was able to survive reasonably well.

Nonetheless, maybe this gig for Shannon makes up for her “arc” on “Glee,” which was one of the strangest things that we have seen to date when it comes to the show. She came in with some hype and flourish, and disappeared before we were really ever able to figure out just what her role was supposed to be. Our guess is that they changed the show’s direction after casting her, and she was quickly expendable.

For now, Fox is putting a great deal of their stock into their upcoming new comedies “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Dads,” executive-produced by Seth MacFarlane. If you want to read more about these programs in particular, you can do so just by heading on over to the link here.
