‘Dancing With the Stars’ contestant David Arquette recently opened up about the end of his marriage to Courteney Cox, his drinking problems and what inspired him to join the DWTS cast.
After David and Courteney ended their 11 year marriage, he says that the heartbreak he felt drove him to drink more and he even considered ending his life at one point. He said;
“We had grown apart for quite a while and I was just really heartbroken over it. I used it as an excuse to accelerate my drinking. You know, to be honest, I didn’t want to live anymore. I didn’t know how to deal with these feelings. And part of getting sober, it’s really difficult at the beginning. You are confronted with of these new emotions… You know, you’re not good enough.”
On a lighter note, David spoke about his rehearsals for ‘Dancing With The Stars’ joking that he’s starting to get some abs like ‘Jersey Shore’ cast member Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino. David said;
“I’m exhausted. I’ve been dancing for like five hours a day. It’s amazing. Every bone aches. I’m starting to get a little situation. I did it because I love dancing… A lot of the themes that are involved with dancing are involved with sort of my way of life now. Balance, staying connected to your core, being in touch with everything around you, the flow of life. And that’s what it’s sort of about for me. It also gave me an opportunity for people to get to know me. Because they may have preconceived notions of who I am. Just to be out there and have fun and entertain people because I’m an entertainer.”
You can catch David’s entire interview with Ellen her show airing on September 13.
