‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: More details on Sherri Shepherd appearance

As you likely found out over the weekend Sherri Shepherd has landed a brand-new gig for herself to go along with all of the work that she does routinely on “The View”: Doing an extended arc on CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother.” But who is she going to play? Thanks to a brand-new statement from CBS, we now have a little bit of an idea, and this role even fills what was a previous casting announcement from earlier this month.

Shepherd has been booked to play the role of Daphne, a woman who is going to be flying to New York City on the same exact flight as Marshall, and ends up clashing with him in some rather unexpected ways. You can definitely expect there to be friction early and often between the two based on the way that she is looking at him in this new photo.

The fact that “How I Met Your Mother” is adding so many recurring players to this season definitely suggests that we are going to see an unconventional collection of episodes in the weeks ahead. We already know that Shepherd will be joined by another guest star in Wayne Brady, who is reprising his old role for multiple episodes as Barney’s brother James. There are probably going to be notable guest stars all season long as we build to the end, and all of these go along with the new face already in town in Cristin Milioti.
