We have to start out here by saying that the sad news still is in fact true: Cote de Pablo is going to be leaving “NCIS” early on in season 11, and this move comes after her being a huge part of the past eight years as Ziva. However, as sad as this news may be, it at least seems like her exit won’t just be a one-and-done affair when it comes to her episode count (which is what we saw for Eric Dane on “Grey’s Anatomy” last year, and we may or may not see for Ashley Madekwe on “Revenge”).
According to TV Guide, Cote will appear in at least a few episodes of the season, which suggests that she is going to have some sort of proper conclusion to her story rather than just something that is rushed completely out the door. Think of this more as the way that Zach Braff left “Scrubs” in its final season, or how Ashton Kutcher took off from “That 70’s Show.”
It is for this reason that we are at least grateful that Cote and producers managed to work something out here for the sake of her fans. Nobody wants a situation where a season starts and a character is just gone, just like nobody wants a situation where a character is tragically killed off or leaves without much of an explanation in the first episode of the show.
Who knows? Maybe before Ziva says farewell we will get some insight into what has happened for her the past few months, and this could satisfy some of the fans shipping her and Tony for as long as the two have been around each other.
