Leila Lopes, from the South African country of Angola, triumphed over 88 other contestants competing for the title of 2011 Miss Universe, which makes her the nation’s first winner ever.
The 25 year old was all smiles as she was handed a bouquet of flowers and crowned the winner. Leila said;
“I’m very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing. I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these.”
She went on to talk about how she wants use put her title to good use and help others in need. She said;
“I’ve worked with various social causes. I work with poor kids, I work in the fight against HIV. I work to protect the elderly and I have to do everything that my country needs. I think now as Miss Universe I will be able to do much more.”
