‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: The mystery of ‘The Broken Code’

So what is “The Broken Code” on “How I Met Your Mother”? For now, all we can tell you is that it is an episode title that we will be seeing after the two-part season premiere on Monday, September 23.

This title was first confirmed by SpoilerTV, and to us right now it does feel somewhat reminiscent as a play on the classic “Bro Code” that we have seen on the show over the years courtesy of one Barney Stinson. Maybe someone commits a major violation of the code, which leads to Barney in turn declaring that the entire book of laws governing his society is now completely moot.

If there is something that happens that breaks the code, it will have to take place over the course of the wedding weekend, given that this is when this entire season is set in some way or another. There will be some flashbacks that take place pretty much throughout, but if our train of thinking here is correct, the code could be worked into the flashbacks.

There will still be 21 episodes after this one to bring Ted closer to the Mother, and get all of these other stories sorted out. What’s your theory for now on what this title means?
