‘Burn Notice’ season 7, episode 5 preview: Now with more explosions than usual

If “Burn Notice” was hoping to deliver a promo that excelled when it comes to just pure adrenaline, they definitely pulled that off with their first teaser for the upcoming fifth episode of the final season. If they were hoping for something that actually provided some insight when it comes to plot, you’re probably sitting here wondering what in the world it was that you just watched. This was all about having things go boom, early and often.

To set up the story for next week, Michael, Sam, and Jesse are trapped, and there’s no real hope for an escape outside of just giving the opposition (however many of them there are) a sort of fight that would make the 300 Spartans cower in fear. There will need to be gunfire, things exploding into the air, and maybe some shrewd negotiation here and there.

But what about Fiona? The mysterious part of her storyline this season is how showrunner Matt Nix continues to dangle that carrot over our head about her still caring for Michael’s mother Madeline, but not really making much of an active effort to actually help him. In a way, this is by design given that she really does not have any obligation or need to help him in the future. She has already proven herself to be kind beyond words by even helping Madeline at all, after all she’s been through. But in continuing to stand by Sharon Gless’ character, her actions show that there is still something there, and we will figure out what that “something” is soon enough.
