‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9: Neil Patrick Harris on Emmys, Barney, and more

Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie SmuldersDo you have more than 30 minutes on your hands, and you want to listen to some legendary words from one of the classiest guys on TV? We hope so, since you’re about to have a hearty dose of NPH coming in your direction.

In the video below, you can see a very lengthy interview between Neil Patrick Harris and GoldDerby where there is a variety of interesting ground covered if you are into the world of awards shows, how submissions work, and why certain episodes are better for you to submit than others. Spoilers-hunters would be sad to know that there’s not a lot of “How I Met Your Mother” season 9 dish in here, but that really is not what this interview is about so much as explaining the path to bringing us where we are today, where we have seen the Mother and we wait in torture for Ted to do the same.

In addition to chatting about why he loves the bachelor party and other episodes of the show (which Neil joked about never winning an Emmy for, though he has one for a week of work on “Glee”), he also explained a little bit of the difference to him between hosting the Emmys and the Tonys, the experience of doing them, and even some of what he would do if he ever were appointed the prestigious honor of being the host of the Academy Awards. GoldDerby does traditionally a great job with these Emmy chats, and this is no exception.
