‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland’ spoilers: Check out the new teaser

WonderlandAre you ready to dive into Wonderland? We’re as surprised as anyone that “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” is airing in the fall alongside the flagship show, but apparently ABC has enough confidence in the show that it can succeed against the monster known as “The Big Bang Theory” along with the teen favorite “The Vampire Diaries.”

Based on the promo below, we are also getting a bit of a sense when it comes to the marketing strategy. The plan here is clear: To advertise the show as a “love story,” but also one with a bit more of an edge than the regular “Once Upon a Time” that airs on Sunday. The Alice being advertised here feels somewhat like a combination of the Disney version of the classic Lewis Carroll story, the American McGee video game about the character, and also to a certain extent a Shakespearean romance. There are many mysteries still apparent about the show, but isn’t that what also makes it exciting?

Sadly, there is no new footage here to show off. The trailer and this promo were derived from the same footage used in a pilot presentation earlier this year, and there is not even a pilot episode out there for critics to watch. Hopefully ABC will have new footage to show off in August, a few weeks after production officially begins in Vancouver. The biggest change that we’ve noticed since the early days of planning is that John Lithgow has replaced Paul Reubens as the voice of the White Rabbit.
