In that final scene Castle doesn’t look like a man who truly wishes to commit himself to another for the rest of his life; rather, he looks like a boxer trying to keep his legs under him after his opponent hooks him with a powerful punch to the head. Beckett will see that.
However, when considering the job offer Beckett (and Marlowe) should remember that in season 2(?), Castle turned down an extremely lucrative offer to write several James Bond books so that he could stay in New York and remain in Beckett’s professional and personal sphere of existence.
I know, I know! Coincidentally he was offered a large contract to write more Nikki Heat novels, but that is all it was- a coincidence.
Anyway…season 6 will/should be interesting.
