‘Britain’s Got Talent’ final: Who is egg-tosser Natalie Holt, and why is Hungary a hot topic?

Britain's Got TalentThere are a number of interesting stories breaking now in the wake of Saturday’s “Britain’s Got Talent” final, but we must start with someone who has received plenty of attention over the past couple of hours without even being a contestant: Natalie Holt.

So who is she? The 30-year old woman is actually a former “Britain’s Got Talent” contestant named Natalie Holt, as her group Raven was rejected last year. She also was performing with one of the backing bands for Richard & Adam during their performance, which is why was able to get to the front of the stage and start pelting eggs at Simon Cowell.

Holt’s Raven group later said that they were all performing separate gigs today, and were surprised by Holt’s actions. Meanwhile, she issued a formal apology not long after the show:

“I want to apologize to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I’ve never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do.”

Really? In hindsight? Not to sound cynical, but we don’t buy this apology for a split-second. Meanwhile, the show also issued a formal statement addressing what happened:

“During tonight’s show an incident took place during the finale of Richard and Adam’s performance. Natalie Holt was part of the backing group for their performance and as a result of her misguided actions the police were called. However, we have decided to take no further action at this stage.”

In other news, Twitter has been abuzz since the show ended, attacking the group Attraction for winning the show because they actually hail from Hungary rather than Britain. This has led to “Hungary’s Got Talent” becoming a trending topic. Do we understand the sort of unity that comes with having the winner hail from your own country? Sure, but these same British people all voted for them to win.
