The former “Glee” star, who is also an international singing sensation with major pop hits under her belt, finally decided to put the rumors to rest late last week when it comes to her sexuality, and admits that she identifies herself as a lesbian in a chat with a local outlet (which you can see below). While the interview is in her native language of Tagalog, she explains that her orientation has already caused her great strife and emotion, and that it is something that she really doesn’t understand.
“I don’t know what the problem is because for me, there is no problem with that … So now I ask for forgiveness from those who don’t understand. And those who cannot accept. I apologize: I understand you. I love myself, that’s why I’m able to do this.”
While Charice may be best known to fans in America for playing Sunshine Corazon on the hit Fox musical series, she also has some other major TV credits to her name. She owes some of her international success to appearances on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” and she also serves as a judge on her home country’s version of “The X Factor.”
It will be interesting to see just how this decision to talk openly about her sexuality impacts her career (even though who she chooses to have a private relationship with shouldn’t have anything to do with her work ). Many pop stars gain many fans after coming out, but at the same time others have lost fans. As for her future on “Glee,” it seems that her time on that show is probably over, much to the dismay of just about every fan out there.
