‘Suits’ season 3 spoilers: The importance of the flashback

SuitsThis is turning out to be quite a week when it comes to  “Suits” scoop. The new season premiering on July 16 may still be weeks away, but there are an assortment of details coming out.

Specifically, we know that one of the more actively-discussed topics of conversation has been the upcoming 10-year flashback episode that gives us more of a taste of who Harvey is, and why he became the hard-nosed attorney who really takes nothing from anyone who steps in his sharply-dressed direction. For more, we turn to the man behind the role in Gabriel Macht, who had the following to say on the subject in a chat with TVLine:

“The DA played by Gary Cole in the first season is brought back, so we’re going to see the origin episode of why Harvey left the DA’s office … It was interesting to find out where Harvey gets the value of not sleeping with the people he works with.”

Meanwhile, Macht also teased that within the first episode, we will see the return of Abigail Spencer, and also find out whether or not Scottie will be spending her time moving forward in either New York or London. Given that we don’t know her status beyond the first episode, we’re nervous, but this cannot be taken as a guarantee of anything.

“Suits” has got a reason to feel good here moving into July as it’s one of USA’s most-popular shows, and also one of the few that produces this sort of pre-show buzz. Thank the serialized elements, which had a shot to be included here much earlier than in some other shows on the network.

Want more “Suits” goodness? While there’s no new footage to show off in the promo over here, it’s still definitely worth your time just for the catch-up alone.
