‘The X Factor’ UK: Johnny Robinson delivers solid audition

Now, it seems to be easy for just about anyone these days to come out and proclaim that (insert reality show contestant here) is “the next Susan Boyle.” However, how often is that really true? The newest person to be blessed with this title is Johnny Robinson on “The X Factor” — and while he possesses some of her qualities, he has a long way to go before he ends up taking this title.

Robinson came on the show with an effervescent personality, but did not necessarily seem like the sort of guy who would come on stage and blow anyone out of the water — but he did with his rendition of Etta James’ “At Least.” He had the audience on their feet, and he was one of the biggest surprises of the season thus far.

Unfortunately for Robinson, his biggest problem moving forward is simply going to be that he may be a bit one-note when it comes to his personality. It’s hard to see him tackling a darker sort of subject matter, and he could become grating in longer doses.
